Our Team

Chris Engel


Chris is the owner and founder of Canoco Energy Services, and part-owner of Hawk Oil Hauling. A natural entrepreneur, Chris started his first company at 23 years old and has continued to expand since. He started in the industry as a welder, and quickly accelerated in his roles to Superintendent, Turnaround Manager, and Project Manager. His years of experience has led him through the natural progression of management positions focused on delivering excellent results.

Chris’ strong work ethic and commitment is made evident by his track record of successful projects in fast-paced environments with tight deadlines. His strengths include effectively and quickly evaluating information, identifying critical issues, assessing risks and benefits, and making decisions based on vast information, sound judgment and knowledge.

Canoco’s founder has brought a new way of thinking to business and shutdowns, focusing on the importance of a strong team, and prioritizing both cost and execution. He strives to exemplify “What Good Looks Like” to his clients, leaving them in a better position than when he arrived, and values integrity, workmanship and building trusting relationships.

Chris’ innovative approach to the industry and dedication has not gone without notice – he was invited to speak at the 2019 Oil & Gas Convention in Austin, Texas; and he was recently featured in the Top 100 magazine as one of Canada’s up-and-coming entrepreneurs. With Chris at the helm, an experienced and dedicated Board of Directors and amongst some of the best mentors in the business, Canoco Energy Services undoubtedly has a promising future.

Chris Sierra


Chris Sierra began his career early, obtaining two trade tickets by the age of 23. He spent the early years of his career sharpening his skills, dedicated to becoming a well-rounded tradesman, successfully completing various projects of all sizes, and quickly acquired a specialized skill set required in the energy sector.

After several years experience in pipeline ti facility maintenance, Chris started to take on larger scale projects completing extensive repairs for one of Alberta’s largest oil sand locations, and he was proud to be part of the team that completed these projects within the budget and in a timely manner.

Shifting his focus in recent years to sharpening his leadership and management skills, Chris has excelled in the planning and coordination of large-scale industrial projects, executing safely, on time, and within budget. He is eager to continuously evolve as a leader, and is dedicated to his trade, to his team, and to providing the best possible product and services at all times.

Keri-Ann Wilson

Director of Finance

Experienced accountant and financial professional with a bachelor’s degree in commerce offering extensive and successful experience maintaining a high standard of performance on an assigned portfolio of accounts. Proven track record of success with significant experience in a financial management role. Emphasis on major projects accounting, AR, AP, credit/financial analysis, client management, financial reporting, cost accounting and financial administration. Skilled in risk analysis for all types of industries. Over 15 years experience in assessment of credit worthiness of client companies with a wide background in financial information analysis including cash flow reporting, Work in progress reporting, management of AR/AP, process and procedure implementation, project-based budgeting, financial statements, analysis of results and balance sheet reconciliations. Demonstrated leadership abilities in managing others, developing the team, and creating a strong service team culture.

Committed to building enduring relationships and delivering optimal customer solutions. Effectively meets internal and external customer needs, builds proactive customer relationships, and takes responsibility for customer satisfaction and loyalty.

Chief Operating Officer

Saurabh is a motivated and enthusiastic team member with over 13 years in the Oil & Gas industry. During this time, he has managed, supervised and completed quality inspections, audits and documentation on various construction and maintenance projects.

Saurabh most recently completed his role as a Site Quality Assurance Superintendent in Mongolia, an experience that proves his adaptability and dedication to his profession.

Saurabh believes in the important of continuing his education, evidenced by the many certifications he hold.

When Saurabh isn’t working, he enjoys traveling and going on adventures with his family.


Director of Turnarounds

Kevin is a veteran of 40 years in the maintenance and turnaround world, with the last 25 years focused solely on the building of turnaround processes and competent teams. Kevin’s passion has taken him through many facilities and industries, most recently he was the Turnaround Manager of 7 years for the CNRL Horizon facility where process was established and a solid team put in place to ensure their future of successful turnarounds.

Kevin has been focused with Chris over the last 5 years in the evolution of “What Good Looks Like” in all things turnaround. More recently in the last two years, Kevin has dedicated his energy to ensuring that Canoco is set up with the right process and people to deliver repeatable excellence to clients and business partners. He strongly believes we can’t continue to execute turnarounds / shutdowns the same way we have for the last 20 years. Progressive and creative growth in turnaround preparation and execution continues to be the competitive edge.
