Chris Engel

Chris Engel is the Founder and Chairman of Canoco Energy Services, an Alberta-built company founded on the belief that great companies are built by great people.

Chris began his career as a red seal welder, operating his first rig truck at 19. He progressed from the tools into supervision, construction management, project management, quality management, and executive leadership giving him a ground-up understanding of the energy and construction industries and a lasting respect for the people performing the work.

In 2018, Chris founded Canoco during a challenging period in Alberta’s energy industry. What began as a small operation has grown into a diversified energy services and construction company serving leading Canadian energy producers.

Today, as Chairman, Chris focuses on Canoco’s long-term strategy, culture, leadership development, partnerships, and continued growth.

His leadership philosophy is grounded in accountability, humility, hard work, and the belief that leadership is ultimately about creating opportunities for others.

For Chris, success is not simply measured by the company Canoco becomes, but by the people it develops, the leaders it creates, and the legacy it leaves behind.
